The transformation of the Kabalikat class from civilians to being
junior officers of the Philippine Army was seen by the officers and NCOs of the
Philippine Army Officer Candidate School who, for eleven months, molded them
into who they are today.
During your dumguardship, you went through
various physical and emotional struggles that were designed to develop your
character as individuals. As your course director, I am glad that you have
surpassed and survived every test of will and character that went your way.
Despite that, you have to remember always that your transformation as
individuals of great character does not end here. New challenges are awaiting
you outside and you must be more ready to face and handle them. I am hoping
that you will be able to apply everything that you have learned from OCS. Also
keep in mind that the true test of leadership can be exercised once you handle
your own people in the field. Whatever style of leadership you apply, always be
a responsible leader to your subordinates and a benevolent follower to your commanders.
Never cease to learn
and transform yourself for the better. Use every learning to be able to have
the best grip on the huge responsibility in your hands. Congratulations to each
and every one of you. I know that you will make us proud.
