Commandant's Message

OFFICER CANDIDATE SCHOOL
TRAINING AND DOCTRINE COMMAND, PHILIPPINE ARMY
Camp O’Donnell, Brgy Sta Lucia, Capas, Tarlac

FROM THE OFFICE OF THE COMMANDANT

                                                                                                                            26 July 2012

The Officer Candidate Course curriculum was envisioned to equip new officer entrants into the Philippine Army with the basic military character, knowledges, skills and physical fitness required of an officer in the Regular Force. As such, it is expected that those who have surpassed the training will be able to do his part as the Army endeavors to achieve its various missions in line with the AFP and government thrusts. It must be noted that being an officer of the Philippine Army is both a challenging and demanding job. Here at OCS, we make sure that each new officer will not only survive in the field, but also ensure that he or she will be a relevant player in the defense and development of our homeland and people.

As the members of OCC “Kabalikat” Class 39-2012 leave the portals of this institution, let me remind you of your sworn duty to protect the Filipino people, our Constitution and the country in general. Let me remind you that from here on, you must live out the values of honor, duty and patriotism. Let these virtues be your daily guideposts as you embark on a career of service and sacrifice. Let these virtues consume your character so that wherever you go, you will be a paragon of the highest standards of Filipino soldiery and a role model not only for your peers but for every Filipino that you meet.

On a more important note, let me also point out that the best asset that you will bring out from this institution is your LEADERSHIP skill. We have equipped you with the initial leadership skills and principles that you need. This, however, is not enough. It is therefore incumbent upon you to further develop your leadership by practicing it and seeking further knowledge on leadership. Early on, you must realize that different echelons and different tasks require different leadership outcomes. Learn to adapt and be open to both successes and failures.

In conclusion, the officers and enlisted personnel of the Officer Candidate School congratulate each and every member of Officer Candidate Course “Kabalikat” Class 39-2012 on your graduation from your course and your subsequent commission into the Philippine Army. We are hoping that you will be able to use whatever you have become and whatever you have learned as you start your military career. Do us proud!

Mabuhay kayo! Mabuhay ang Hukbong Katihan ng Pilipinas!
